Just 300 metres from our front door, the lagoon-side Poortjies Beach is a perfect, quiet spot for relaxing, bird watching and safe, wave-free swimming. Toilet facilities are available.
Often the busiest beach in Plett, with life guards on duty in season. Facilities include restaurants, bars and public toilets.
This Blue Flag Beach stretches for kilometres between the Robberg Peninsula and the Beacon Island. Facilities include public toilets and various parking areas.

CANOEING ON THE KEURBOOMS RIVER
|Rent a canoe in the Keurbooms River Nature Reserve - laze your way up river between high craggy rocks and deep verdant forest. Also a perfect opportunity for birding (the Garden Route has nearly 300 bird species).
Watch rhino, lions, giraffe, zebra, buffalo and kudu - as well as other big mammals and more than 150 species of birds - just 15 minutes drive from Thanda Vista.

|Plettenberg Bay Country Club
The golf course remains a popular destination for tourists. the main attraction being the challenging layout built to USGA specifications and is rated in the top 50 in South Africa. The 18-hole par 72 course is 5 minutes away from Thanda Vista.
Goose Valley is a secure residential golf estate situated on the banks of the Keurbooms Lagoon, one kilometre north of Plett. The 18-hole par 72 course is a mere 3 minutes drive from Thanda Vista.
... and there are a number of other great championship courses within easy driving distance, too: Pezula, Simola and Knysna Golf Club in Knysna (35 minutes from Thanda Vista) and Fancourt, Kingswood and George Golf Club in George (90 minutes)
|Plettenberg Bay Winelands
The newest addition to Plettenberg Bay activities is the Plett Winelands; which is being developed into a wine route that stretches from Harkerville to The Crags with a total of 16 producing vineyards. Currently, only the larger vineyards offer wine tastings and meals and this is a delightful way to spend a day in Plett, meandering through the vineyards and sampling the produce, which is largely Bubbly & Sauvignon Blanc.
MARINE SAFARIS & BOAT CRUISES
Ocean Safaris is a whale and dolphin watching company in Southern Africa with legally licensed launch sites in Plett - three to four times a day, seven days a week.
Situated in the coastal town of Plett, Ocean Blue offers a rare and powerful experience through permitted boat based whale & dolphin encounters.
A rare and exhilarating experience for water lovers, swimming with the Cape Fur Seals at Robberg Peninsula is a fun way to enjoy Plettenberg Bay from the ocean and get to snorkel with these graceful and inquisitive marine mammals.
Scuba divers will enjoy the marine diversity and colourful reefs of Plettenberg Bay. Most dives are conducted to the shallow, sheltered reefs of the bay which are teeming with a fireworks display of soft corals, anemones and sponges in addition to abundant marine life and endemic shysharks.
FISHING AND ANGLING
|Rock anglers can expect to bag galjoen, elf, roman or steenbras from Nature's Valley, Keurbooms Beach, Lookout Rocks, Beacon Island or Robberg Beach. Deep Sea anglers can hunt for tuna, leervis, hake and calamari. Fishing charters offering boat-based salt water fly fishing, game and line fishing depart regularly from Central Beach.
The primates at Monkeyland were all originally bred or held in captivity prior to coming here. Visitors may enjoy guided walking safaris.
|Birds of Eden
The unique two hectare dome (the World's largest) spans over a gorge of indigenous forest. The sanctuary has its own mysterious ruin, which incorporates a walk-behind waterfall.
|Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre
Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre at Plettenberg Bay offers a truly unique Wildcat Experience. Guests are taken on a guided tour to meet captive-bred furry felines, living in a semi-natural environment. For the more adventurous, they offer a walk with the Tenikwa Cheetahs.
Visitors can learn more about elephant's habits, behaviour, different personalities and anatomy through up close and personal interaction. You also have the opportunity to touch, feed and walk trunk-in-hand with these magnificent animals. They also offer a short elephant back ride - a privilege historically reserved for kings!
Eagle Encounters is a rehabilitation centre that is aimed at community awareness, and the rescue, rehabilitation and release of birds of prey. As part of their commitment to the preservation of birds of prey they demonstrate the plight and magnificence of these birds through flying displays.
|Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary
The Crags is already a must-visit for animal lovers and the addition of the Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary, made up entirely of rescued animals, is a haven for big cats and other wildlife. To be seen at Jukani: lions, cheetahs, tigers, leopard, jaguar and puma in addition to other wildlife species zebra, springbok and wild dog.

|Plett's Main Street (central precinct) and our Market Square Mall boast a host of interesting shops and restaurants. The town of Knysna, 30 km to the west, is also a popular shopping destination.
We particularly recommend OLD NICK - just 2 minutes from Thanda Vista - where you'll find great arts and crafts, jewellery, home decorations, a nursery, tea garden and restaurant. It's a showcase for some of the finest local talent.
|Robberg Nature Reserve
The Robberg Peninsula is a unique nature reserve and national monument that lies just south of Plettenberg Bay, offering spectacular views of the bay. Robberg offers a choice of three circular routes of increasing difficulty and distance. The round trip via the Point takes about four hours and hikers will have a good chance of seeing seals, dolphins, whales and sharks.
|Tsitsikamma National Park
Where the booming breakers of the Indian Ocean relentlessly pound rocky shores, where temperate high forest and fynbos roll down to the sea in an unspoilt verdant carpet, where ancient rivers carve their paths to the ocean down rocky ravines. This, "the place of much water", is the Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park. The heartland of the park stretches some 5km to sea, protecting a wonderland of inter-tidal life, reef and deep-sea fish. Hikes range from short ambles to day walks and the famous 5 day Otter Trail.
This is the ultimate thrill! This IS the highest commercially operated Bungy jump bridge in the world. If you don't want to jump, they also offer bridge walks along the spectacular and specially designed catwalk to the top of the arch from where you look out over the Gorge to the mountains.
